Feliz Ano Novo,

Shameful use of the internet to make myself seem dead clever but needs must and all that. So that just about covers Happy New Year for almost everywhere this blog is apparently being read!! Apologies for anywhere I've missed.

Time seems to have zipped by since my last post covering the Beacons Ultra but then it has been the lead up to and the celebration of Christmas so I can't really say I haven't been doing anything. Haven't actually done much running since the ultra though. Started full of good intentions after a week or so rest and did 3 short runs on consecutive days but then foul to a horrid lurgy that was doing the rounds. That kept me out of action pretty much up until Christmas, then it was Christmas and everything that goes with it so that was pretty much that.

Not really one for New Year resolutions but on my return to work on the 30th I did get my finger out somewhat and managed to book my flight to Vegas for September. I also managed to get myself rooms before and after the event in the MGM Grand at a bargain price so all has now been taken care of in that department and I can concentrate on training and building my kit and menu list for the event.

An interim event has been entered in the shape of the Marmot 24 hour mountain race, which according to the organisers is the first of its kind anywhere in the World! This is a 2 or 4 person team event so I have secured the services of MdS Tent 95 buddy, Robert "Arnie" Arnold. It's almost 2 years since MdS and this is the first of any type of reunion for me so I reckon the 24 hours will be filled with a lot of catch up chatter!

I've outlined in my mind a few more challenges to keep me occupied between now and September, which I hope to fit in every couple of months. Starting with a 100km treadmill challenge at work followed by a 24hr treadmill challenge, Welsh 1000 and an attempt at the Anglesey Coastal Path (125 miles) in 48 hours. If I can knock all that off plus the Marmot event, I reckon I'll be in pretty good shape for the G2G.

Finally, I've almost decided on the benefitting charity. Details of that will be included in my next post, so get your credit / debit cards or handfuls of cash at the ready!
